For sixty years, Fulbright scholars have been advising businesses, governments, and other organizations on a broad range of science and technology issues.  Since its creation in 1946, the goal of the exchange program has been to honor top scientists and promising young professionals by providing opportunties to conduct research and share their knowledge, while also serving a broader public interest - increasing mutual understanding among nations.

A grass-roots organization established by alumni of that exchange program, the Fulbright Academy of Science & Technology (FAST) continues that dual mission. FAST started operations in 2003 as a volunteer-based initiative.  Since then, we have grown to be a fully-staffed non-profit 501-c-3 organization.  Today, FAST had individual and institutional members in more than 50 countries.  Our institutional members are listed elsewhere on this website.  Copies of our annual reports are available on-line (see box at right)

ANNUAL MEETINGS

In 2005, 2006 and 2008, FAST held its Annual Meetings at the location of the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).  The 2005 meeting was hosted by World Wildlife Fund at their conference center in downtown Washington, DC.  Our 2006 Annual Meeting was in St. Louis, and the 2008 Meeting was in Boston.  We have also gone overseas for our annual meetings. The 2007 meeting was in Panama City, Panama, 2009 was in Skopje, Macedonia, and 2010 meeting was in San Francisco. The 2011 Annual Meeting was in Heidelberg, Germany, on March 16, 2011.
