To Donate For a Specific Program

Your generous, tax-deductible gift will ensure that the Fulbright Academy continues to produce programs that mobilize the Fulbright alumni community in the spirit of international service and understanding.

The credit card system accepts gifts of up to $25,000.

Please become a member and supporter of the Fulbrigh Academy.
* The Director’s Circle is alumni who recognize that the Fulbright program changed their life path and helped them be successful. Members of this group contribute $1,000. In November 2011, many members of this group made ten-year commitments of $1,000/year, or $10,000 total.
* You can join as a Life member for $500. These often are alums in the private sector, and they prefer to do a one-time payment, instead of annual membership dues.
* Annual membership is $60 or $100 or $250. Depending on your financial situation, you can give at different levels. About 60% donate $60, and the others give at higher levels – because they value our programs and our network and they wish to give something back.
* We welcome you to join as an individual or institutional member.

Other ways to give - Be a Sponsor

Sponsorships:

  • Registration Sponsors so young or low-income alumni/grantees can attend at reduced rates - $300/person
  • Internship Sponsors so young alumni can receive a stipend when volunteering for the Academy - $600/intern
  • Table Sponsors at the Gala Dinner on opening night of the Annual Conference - $1,500/table of eight
  • Forum Sponsors so we can organize a small forum and reception in your community - $750 - $1,500/forum
  • Newsletter Sponsors to underwrite broader distribution of our publications - $750/newsletter
  • Ambassador-level Sponsors for the Annual Conference - $10,000+/conference
  • Film Festival Sponsor to help promote the passions of alumni - $2,500 to $7,500
  • Exhibitor Sponsor so we can be an exhibitor at a major international science conference - $5,000+



Options for Institutional Members

The Fulbright Academy has approximately fifty institutional members (June 2011)

There are three categories for institutional memberships.

  1. Institutions of Higher Education ($500/year)
  2. Corporate or Government Agencies ($1,000/year)
  3. Premium Members  ($2,500/year)
  4. Small business / Small NGO / Consultancy ($250/year)
Institutions based in low and middle-income countries pay the same rates, but the membership is valid for two years.  "Small" means annual income of under $500,000/year.

Charity Status and Bank Fees

The Fulbright Academy is a non-profit charitable organization under 501(c)3 of the US tax code. Memberships and donations are deductible, as provided by US law.  The Fulbright Academy's tax return is a public document and can be viewed at Guidestar.org. The Fulbright Academy is not affiliated with the Fulbright Exchange Program, the US Department of State or the US Fulbright Association.  Our Annual Reports are available online in the About Us section of our webpage.

There is no charge when we deposit a check from a US bank or when you use Google Checkout.  When you fax us your credit card, we must pay a 3% fee to our bank to process your donation. The bank fee for international deposits into our account is about $20.00. 

Thus:  if you use Google Checkout or mail a $500 check, the full amount is available for us to use on programs and services.  If you fax your credit card information, then about $15 from a $500 membership goes to our bank as a processing fee.  For institutional memberships, this processing fee may be tacked onto the membership fee.
